United Again Try To Sign Rodwell

The £20M Transfer That Will Rip Goodison Apart
15 December 2011

Manchester United are set to test Everton’s resilience, by making a £20 million bid for England starlet Jack Rodwell.

Sir Alex Ferguson is in awe of the young talented midfielder and is eager to bolster up his central midfield after injuries to key midfielders have left him in a panic.

According to Caughtoffside Ferguson is set turn his attention to the promising Rodwell to help solve Manchester United’s so call ‘midfield crisis’.

The United boss has been linked with many household names of late with the likes of Luka Modric, Daniele De Rossi, Javi Martinez and Wesley Sneijder all in the frame. However the 69-year-old wants to keep faith in his recently implemented ‘buy young and/or buy British’ transfer policy and believes that Rodwell is the answer to turning  United’s season around.

The England prodigy is a steely midfielder and holds many attributes that will suit United’s style. The 20-year-old midfield battler is most comfortable as a defensive midfielder and boasts skills that not too many others in his position can possess. He has the ability to combine the tactical discipline of a defensive minded player with the ability to pass and create of an offensive minded player.

Ferguson knows Everton hold many financial difficulties and believes that a £20 million offer would help lure the Southport born midfielder away from Merseyside.  As well as being an avid Everton supporter he is product of their youth system. It would be difficult for the youngster to leave his boyhood club, but an opportunity like this doesn’t come knocking every day. Rodwell could be poised to follow previous Everton idol Rooney’s footsteps and leave Goodison Park for Old Trafford.

A move to a high profile club could have a humongous impact on his career. It would definitely give him a better chance of securing a place in Fabio Capello’s Euro 2012 squad and to play alongside some of the best players in the world will do nothing but help him grow as a player.

In saying that, does Fergie need a player that will take time to develop or does he need a player that has the proven experience and class that will add something special to the team now? Rodwell is a bright and upcoming talent but he may not be United’s answer in this moment of time. United need someone that will bring a spark to the team and add some panache and creativity to the heart of the midfield like a Sneijder. If Fergie wants to show City they mean business, I don’t think a player like Rodwell will send shivers down Mancini’s spine.

Well for me he is good player that could operate as a defender and midfielder. However the best position would be in the midfield. His is kinda enforcer that United is looking for. He always made his presence felt. I believed if he play under Ferguson, he could bring the best out of him. He will be much better player with the pools of talented players in United camp. He also could play  along the England colleagues like Rooney, Smalling, Jones, Ferdinand, Cleverly, Welbeck and Young. This also would improve his capabilities.

His is young and have bright future. He could combine well with Cleverley for United and England. The pair would be the best midfielder pair in the world like Iniesta and Xavi. Another United target Christian Eriksen, the Ajax starlet would also really fit in. Sign both and United would solve the so called midfield crisis.
