United 4-1 Wolves

United backlash

As expected and hope by the fans, United had put aside the UCL disappointment in Switzerland to beat the struggling Wolves at Old Trafford last Saturday. It was better performance by the men in red in term of goals where they were lacking in the game with Basel. Brace from Rooney and Nani that condemned Wolves their 9th league defeat.

With Vidic out for the rest of the season, Evans was the choice to partner Ferdinand with Evra on the left. Smalling was given the slot for the rightback. The impressive Jones against given the task in the midfield along Carrick. While Nani and Valencia as the wingers. As United had limited choice of strikers Rooney again partnered Welbeck at the front.

They played very high tempo game with United calling all the shots. I was very impressed with Jones performance. He played well in the centre of midfield. He covered the most ground. He attacked and defended very well. He tracked players diligently giving no room to them to move. When attacks his run almost unstoppable.

However the night belong to Rooney who ended his league goal drought with two well taken goals. Rooney last goal came on September where he scored a goal against Chelski in 3-1 win. It also capped a memorable night after his three-match ban for the tournament in Poland and Ukraine next summer was reduced to two after the appealed. Now already scored 11 league goals.

Nani also very impressive tormenting the Wolves defends. He is good player but sometimes find that consistency is the main problem. So did Valencia. This guy had accurate cross and he played confidently. For that night game he had three assist.

Carrick also performed superbly. This is the guy that less admirable by United fans. But he is very important player in United squad. In this game he won four tackles and four interceptions. His had 73 passes which were the highest in the game  where 90% of it were accurate.

Hope United will continue to perform like this. With their noisy neighbours had suffered their first league defeat at Stamford Bridge the gap now reduced to two points only. United with all the experience in the league will surely keep the pressure on the Citizens. Though United will had to change their strategy to accommodate the Europa League that will be played on Thursday. Then BPL on Sunday so a little bit new to United.

Glory Glory United
