Liverpool 1-1 United

Another Boring Game: United Lucky To Escape With Draw

The game was not lived up to the billing as the greatest match up in English football. And again it was boring game especially during the first half. Can hardly see the goal mouth actions with the fans did not have the nervy and anxious moments to endure. It was a relax game for everyone who were watching the lunch time fixture. Maybe it was a lunch time with everybody including the players supposed to have rest to digest the meal.

As far I remember for the first 45 minutes there was only one real chance created and it was belong to Liverpool. Charlie Adam shot was bounced off Johny Evans and kindly path to Luis Suarez. However the Uruguay striker who had only De Gea to beat shot straight to the Spanish stopper body. United meanwhile only created one half chance through Phil Jones who had free header from Evra deep cross. However the United new signing header was mile away. He should at least hit the target or trouble the keeper.

The second half started almost the same. When the game need some spark to ignite Charlie Adam provided it. A lazy run from the midfielder passed United players. Then he face off with Ferdinand. He beat Ferdinand who then had foul against him. Ferdinand was visibly furious with the decision. However I believed the way Ferdinand position his body to face Adam could be argued. He was giving his side where I believed he should have his whole body to stop Adam. Just the way his position had invited Adam to continue his running that got the foul. Then stepped in was the Liverpool talisman Stevie G for the set piece. He scored. The wall was not doing its job by moving away. And of all the players it was Ryan Giggs that moved where as a result created a gap for Stevie G to exploit. 1-0. Then Ferguson responded by brought in Rooney and Nani. The changes a little bit had impact on United game. Then the Scottish master throw in Hernandez as he took a gamble searching for equaliser. It paid off when the Mexican head home to salvage a point after Welbeck flick on from Giggs corner.

Ferguson line up quite surprising with Nani and Rooney were benched. Phil Jones was handed a midfield job. Another surprised inclusion was Ferdinand where most people were thinking the return of Vidic. On Rooney Ferguson explained that his talisman was not in good frame mind after been handed three games suspension for international duty. At first I was thinking Rooney was rested for European game.

On 23rd October is the real big game when United welcome his noisy neighbor. This is the cracking game that been waiting for. The two frontrunners of the league meet each other not only league glory but also for pride, tradition and long bitter rivalry.

Glory glory United.
