The contenders for this year’s FIFA Ballon d’Or Award for the best player of 2011 and for the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year 2011 award were announced at a press conference held at the headquarters of France Football magazine in Paris on Monday 5 November 2011.

The nominees are as the followings;

Best Male Player Nominees

1. Christiona Ronaldo (Portugal)
2. Lionel Messi (Argentina)
3. Xavi Hernandez (Spain

Best Female Player Nominees

1. Marta (Brazil)
2. Homare Sawa (Japan)
3. Abby Wambach (USA)

 FIFA World Coach of the Year for Men’s Football Nominees

1. Alex Ferguson (Scotland)
2. Josep Guardiola (Spain)
3. José Mourinho (Portugal)

FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women’s Football Nominees

1. Bruno Bini (France)
2. Norio Sasaki (Japan)
3. Pia Sundhage (Sweden)

FIFA Puskás award for the “most beautiful goal of the year” Nominees

1. Lionel Messi (Argentina)
2. Neymar (Brazil)
3. Wayne Rooney (England)  

All the awards will be presented at the FIFA Ballon d’Or, which will be held at the Kongresshaus in Zurich, FIFA’s home city, on 9 January 2012.
