Will He Leave For Real?

Manchester United Skipper Set for Shock £12m Move to Spanish Giants
10 November 2011

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic could be set for a shock Old Trafford departure, with Real Madrid showing an interest, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is contemplating selling Vidic, whilst he could still get good money for the Serbian international and he also has cover in the centre back position with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones emerging well in the first-team.

It is felt that Ferguson is no longer convinced that Vidic is 100 per cent commited to life with Manchester United and has been unimpressed with the 30-year-olds performances this season.

So far this season Vidic has only played only played three Premier League games for Manchester United this season.

However Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the Serb and is preparing to make a £12million bid once the January transfer window opens for business.

The Spanish giants are currently top of La Liga, three points clear of rivals Barcelona. Mourinho is looking to further strengthen his side in order to win the La Liga and Champions League crowns and feels Vidic would be a perfect purchase.

It was no secret that Vidic wanted to leave in the past seasons. It was not he did not like United but the problem lied on his wife that had problem to settle down in England. He is only 30 and still in great form. His anticipation and interception skills are terrific. What more his game reading and positioning. Losing him would be big lost but with Jones and Smalling proved to be reliable and in tandem with Ferguson policy to keep the team young, selling him would not be something to regret. Though Ferguson is not so convinced with Evans, the young lad from Northern Ireland is a good cover. Maybe selling of Vidic could cover the cost of buying another young defender. Meanwhile Rio Ferdinand definitely becoming a bit part player if he stays at Old Trafford.

Ferguson seemed very serious of building a new generation of young team that again dominate the league and of course Europe as well.
