I agreed with Rio Ferdinand when
tweeted Roberto Di Matteo dismissal as madness. Ferdinand
tweeted: "Wow, Chelsea have sacked their manager!! I'm a bit late I know
but its a madness."
Yes its madness. Six months ago RDM
gave the Roman what he wanted most, UCL title or the champion of Europe. The
title that cannot be delivered by the past coaches. All the big names were
install as coaches but all failed to deliver the prestigious trophy. Suddenly came RDM
after AVB was abruptly dismissed due to undesirable results. Roman was hard to
please with some senior players at Bridge hardly in line with AVB, the young
coach from Portugal dismissal was not so controversy.
When RDM took over their style of
play was not something to admire. It was a damage control measure taken by RDM.
But somehow he managed to land double for Chelski. FA Cup and UEFA Championship
Trophy are not easy and should be applauded to higher recognition.
However Chelski started the new
season differently. They are more offensive team. And I hate to admit that
Chelski is playing the best football in BPL now. Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar
had created fear among other teams. Their movements were absolutely incredible.
They are mouth watering trio to watch. They all were backed by rock solid
defensive of Ramires and Obi Mikel. Sometimes they played resemble Barca style –
without out and out striker. Their only weakness is their backline. Without
Terry their frailty showed. Cahill is also good but David Luiz sometimes
ventured forward leaving a lot of space for him to cover.
RDM had gave what Roman wanted. A
beautiful game that he wanted Chelski to be known as. A great game that he
witnessed between Real Madrid and Man United with both showed the beauty of
football. But RDM was not his favourite. The Italian was given the permission
to lead Chelski just because he won double. Now he got the excuse to remove RDM
although the Italian said to be fond by many players.

Claudio Ranieri
Ranieri was the first manager to be
fired by Abramovich. The Italian, who became known as the "Tinkerman''
because of his tendency to fiddle with his team, was hired in September 2000 by
previous Chelsea owner Ken Bates. He was fired in May 2004 despite guiding
Chelsea to second place behind Arsenal and reaching the Champions League
semi-finals.
Jose Mourinho
Mourinho came to Chelsea after
winning the Champions League title with FC Porto in 2004. Upon arrival, he
called himself the "Special One'', and then justified the name, becoming
the most successful Chelsea manager ever. In three years, he won back-to-back
Premier League titles in 2004-05 and 2005-06, the FA Cup in 2007 and two League
Cups in 2005 and 2007. A power struggle with the Russian owner paved the way
for his exit in September 2007.
Avram Grant
Grant didn't have the bravado of
Mourinho. But despite reports he didn't have control of the dressing room, he
finished second in the league. He was also the first Chelsea manager to guide
the team to the Champions League final, but the Blues lost to Premier League
champion Manchester United on penalties. He was fired in May 2008.
Luiz Felipe Scolari
A new season in August 2008 welcomed
a new manager in Scolari, a Brazilian who led his home country to the 2002
World Cup title. But with Chelsea underperforming and control in the dressing
room once again proving to be a problem, Abramovich lost his patience after
only seven months, firing Scolari in February 2009
Guus Hiddink
Hiddink temporarily took charge of
Chelsea in February 2009 while keeping his job as coach of Russia's national
team. The Dutch veteran lost only one game as the team finished third in the
Premier League and reached the Champions League semi-finals. Hiddink left at
the end of the season to resume his international job.
Carlo Ancelotti
Ancelotti became the fifth man to
manage the club in less than two years in June 2009. The Italian was a two-time
Champions League winner as coach of AC Milan, and won the Premier League and FA
Cup double in his first Premier League season. It was under Ancelotti that
Chelsea paid STG50 million ($A77 million) for Liverpool striker Fernando
Torres. But his second season was less successful, as Chelsea finished second,
nine points behind Manchester United, and Ancelotti lost his job in May 2011.
Andre Villas-Boas
Villas-Boas started last season as
Chelsea's new manager. The suave Portuguese, a former Porto coach who won the
Europa League title in 2011, shared many similarities with Jose Mourinho. But he
didn't live up to the same success. The club dropped out the top four, and his
controversial selection decisions got him fired by March.
Roberto Di Matteo
Di Matteo was appointed
caretaker-manager following Villas-Boas' departure at the end of last season.
The Blues finished in sixth place in the Premier League, but Di Matteo finally
gave Abramovich the European glory he had been craving.After beating Liverpool
in the FA Cup final, Chelsea went on to beat Bayern Munich on penalties in the
Champions League final. Chelsea added a number of high-profile players to the
squad in the offseason, including Oscar and Eden Hazard, but Di Matteo was
fired after a run of eight games in all competitions with only one win.
