UCL - United Won San Siro Clash

Ronney Brace Gives United Edge

I was so occupied last week to blog on mid week league game against Aston Villa. I always have this kind of uncomfortable feeling everytime United played on Villa. No matter what position Villa occupied in the league, match against them is usual very tough. Luckily it was 1-1 although Nani got sent off.

The big match for this week was the second round of UCL the resume this week. United off to San Siro for the clashed with Serie A giant AC Milan. The Rossoneri are third in the league although they had sluggish start of the campaign. Their form recently could considered medicore as for the last five games they recorded two wins, two draws and a lost. The aging team lead by their gaffer Leonardo still in recovery process of losing their best player Kaka to Real Madrid. Like Ferguson said this was the best time for United to visit San Siro.

Well AC Milan still among the best team in Europe if not in the world. United used to have jinx against Italian team. But not nowadays. After big result against Roma few years ago, United confidence now grew high.

And United showed their great character by defeating the Italian 3-2 with help from Rooney brace. Though  just a slim lead but three goals and a win are big moral boost. Although 3-1 would be a healthy lead that almost took them into quarter final.

The best things is it was United first ever win in the San Siro. Glory Glory United

Another 5 Stars

Own Goals Hattrick

All already knew the result last weekend. MU hits five against Pompey. Three goals came from Pompey players. One sided game that stamped MU supremancy against the problem club. MU attacked right from the start until the visitor could not get the ball out form their own half. Pompey knew their strengh could not match MU and they just glad to sit and dig deep absorbing the Devils onslought.  But MU need 40 minutes to break Pompey resistance and it was the visitor that had two decent chances where Johny Evan once had to clear the ball off the line. Then MU took the lead from the on form Rooney's tapping header. Pompey started to collapse.

Nani continued with his great form that forced Pompey to concede two goals. Carrick made one and brilliant goal from Berba complete the rout. I thought Rooney would be rested to give another rare start to Micheal Owen. This is due more important and tough game against Aston Villa in mid week. But with Rooney in great form, benched him would may be took the momentum off. And he was rested together with Berba and Fletcher in 65 minute to make way to Owen. Surely Ferguson already thinking about Villa's game.

Great Game.

Chelski 2 - 0 Arsenal.

I watch this game with great interest hoping that Arsenal could win. Also as a neutral I was hoping a classic and very entertaining game. Arsenal started with great enthusiasm and purpose. Knowing they need to win to keep their title hope alive Wengers' boy pushed the game with great spirit. Then Drogba hit them with two goals but still they moved with the purpose. Arsenal was better side that night. Chelski seemed to play physical game to intimidate Arsenal. Many Arsenal players went to the ground. Chelski knew just how to stop Arsenal- by stopping them played their game. Chelski gave no room, space and time to Arsenal especial Febragas and the Arsenal skipper almost lost his cool when Drogba seems to go down easily when both tumbles. No contact form Febragas but still Drogba made most of it leaving Febrages fuming with referee decision to give free kick against him.

Chelski got their game plan working perfectly.

Best time for MU to topple Chelski. MU will welcome the Pompey. Should be no problem for the Devil to chalk another win against the trouble club.  Arsenal wont let Chelski to get better of them after the defeat by MU. Atleast draw would be fair result for Wengers' boys.

Devils Slayed The Gunners 3-1

Impressive win against the Gunners.

Another great game that I missed. Really wanted to watch this game. As the game start at 12  midnight and I had to wake up at 4.30 am, it really though call for me hehe. So I chose to sleep early. Although my lovely wife obediently gave a wake up call at 12, I chose to have a enough sleep. Thanks sayang.

So as usual it was anxious morning. Woke up 4.30 am then (almost) immediately me, my wife and Adam were already in the car. It was too early to have news and almost all radio station only have songs. So I had to wait a little bit. Finished the routine at 6 am where we were already at my mother in law house. So I had to wait again until I reached the office at 9am to get the result.

When I reached the office, I opened my favourite website http://soccernet.espn.go.com/ . Kinda suspense at the beginning. Then I was smiling when the headline said ' Rooney and United Run Riot.' Ha ha. Another victory. MU had double on Arsenal. This second round much sweeter as it was done at Emirates, the Gunners home turf. The result 3-1. WoW

Then I browsed for the game highlights. All three goals are magnificent, superb and marvelous. The first goal created by Nani. From the report that Nani was man of the match. He is in superb and scintillating form. Attacked from the right Nani was facing Clichy and Samir Nasri on the touchline, with a clever flick he easily passed between them. Then surged forward with Denilson tried to stop him. Again this time with little dummy he passed the Brazilian. With no one to close him down, he lofted an audicious chip. Almunia flung himself but only managed to path the ball into his net. 1-0.  Great goal.

Second goal came from typical MU masterclass counter attack. Started from loose ball from Arsenal move just outsite MU's 18 yard collected by Ji Sung Park. He quickly passed the ball to Rooney who well aware the position of on the run Nani. Without any hesitation he surged forward to Arsenal's goal who at that time had only one defender. Meanwhile Rooney also sprint forward to the center for support flanked by Ji Sung Park at his left. Nani checked then delivered much perfect weighted ball to on the run Rooney. Despite having three Arsenal players between them, the ball still reached Rooney who took it early and send it to the back of the net. Much to Arsenal despair but joy to MU. 2-0.

The third came form slick and quick passing of MU move that release Ji Sung Park. Arsenal rearguard again caught napping by MU pace.Ji Sung Park with ball at his feet surged foward to Almunia. Three Arsenal tried to chase him. Rooney and Nani also sprinted forward for support. But Ji Sung Park slot the ball under out rushing  Almunia. 3-0.

Great performance by the lads. Glad to see that MU counterattacks had provided 3 goals. And it were against the master of counterattack itself. Arsenal widely known for their great counter attack had no answer for MU swift and precise move. Again like UCL semi final last year, Ferguson had adopted  4-5-1 with Rooney as lone striker. It work into perfection. As Evra once said 'Men Against Boys.'

Glory Glory Man Utd
